About

I’ve always been fascinated by the lives of writers and love immersing myself in their biographies. Partly it’s because their works have often made a deep impression on me but I suspect it’s also because I would secretly have liked to have been a writer myself. By immersing myself in their lives, I become one vicariously, at least for a while. And by visiting places associated with writers who have meant a lot to me, I feel even more connected to them and perhaps gain a little insight into how they became the people they were. It’s also just a lot of fun visiting places like the ranch in New Mexico where DH Lawrence and his wife lived for a while, or going to see the boyhood home of Mark Twain in Hannibal, Missouri, or visiting the city where Robert Louis Stevenson was born and grew up – the historic and beautiful Edinburgh in Scotland. I’d love to share some of that fun and fascination with you in these blog posts, and love to hear your feedback on them.
